Gucci Icon-Temporary

...Gucci Icon Temporary London April 2010...

Gucci opened it's doors Thursday to another pop-up Icon-Temporary store in Covent Garden, London, after New York and Miami. The stores, open for only three weeks, showcase a handful of limited edition trainers, a collection made in collaboration with Gucci creative director Frida Giannini and famed music producer Mark Ronson. Both were in attendance to Thursday's event, including a bevy of other celebrities... celebrities of which I cannot name... because most do not ring a bell. My pal Mischa Barton, however, attended the New York opening in October, which I hear was a much better event to attend. No worries, though: I'm certain Gucci lost my invite in the mail. Since the volcano eruption in Iceland, mail delivery hasn't been up to par recently... I guess the same can be said about my shoes.

Karl Lagerfeld Coke 2010

...Karl Lagerfeld light Coca-Cola...

Can I get my hands on Karl Lagerfeld? Available at Collette in Paris!? Comon. Nevertheless, I'm liking the design. "The designer affixes his style and his famous silhouette on the bottle and delivers an exclusive creation with chic lines and also a unique box in limited edition." A box set for €60.00, I think I might pass on this one and instead buy a vintage Roberto Cavalli Coke bottle from 2008. Haha. Much cheaper...

Brown Paper Chanel S/S 2010

...Chanel Paperbag S/S 2010...
C$0.05

In the midst of a global catastrophe, people all over the world can still attain a sense of class and prestige. Here, seen on the streets of Paris, a derelict successor to the famous quilted Chanel clutch sought after by so many a fashionista. Classic Chanel punched bag in leather: €1160. Handbag maintenance: €400. Brown paper bag with attached metal hardware: priceless.

Tommy Hilfiger S/S 2010 Ad Campaign

...Tommy Hilfiger S/S 2010 by Unwerth...

I'm loving the S/S 2010 campaign for Tommy Hilfiger. It reminds me of an old postcard from Miami. Can Ellen Von Unwerth do any harm? She was also photographer for Lacoste's new S/S 2010 ad campaign. Stunning photography indeed; the high-contrast + clean aesthetic really seems to work for summer: I feel that I've gone blind.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Topkapital 2008

...Jean-Charles de Castelbajac...

Castelbajac stands for everything I believe in. I've been waiting a long time for art of this caliber to hatch. It exhibited at Paradise Row in London under the show name Triumph of the Sign. Fitting; very fitting.

"In Triumph of the Sign, Castelbajac presents a series
of paintings that articulate his fascination with, broadly,
the tensions and synergies between high art and
consumer culture, and most specifically that defining
element of contemporary visual culture – the brand logo."

Castelbajac also does fashion, and let me tell you, it's no short of exuberant. Anyone remember Lady Gaga and the green muppet sweater she wore to some event? That was Castelbajac. What about the Lego print dress? Castelbajac again. Man, I wish I had his money...
